If you are interested in dieting,
you may have heard talk of how to diet. I can almost guarantee you haven't
heard everything though. In fact, if you read the rest of this how to diet
review, you'll discover three features almost nobody is talking about...yet...
Check weight at the same time every day.
Your body is lighter in the morning and heaver
during the evening, this is because you have eaten during the day and the
process of sleep burns calories (it is an accurate generalization that you burn
sixty calories an hour during sleep), therefore you want to choose a fixed
period of time (it is suggested that you do so at six in the morning because
that is when you are at your lightest) to weigh yourself to get a reliable
baseline. Checking your weight everyday also boosts morale (although it may
take an initial investment of energy to get you started and see yourself
through for a few days), you get to see the incremental results of all your how
to diet hard work (if weight increases, morale boost not guaranteed). If you
are the kind of person who values seeing even minute amounts of weight loss
(and lets me honest, that really in fact is most everyone), buy a digital
scale; it may pay for itself when if after a hard day dieting you're
threatening yourself with a can of cheese wiz (or any other kind of highly
processes, hydrogenised, liquid can food) because you "didn't" lose
any weight.
No dieting on the weekends.
You know the saying "I can't miss you until you leave" (hopefully not too well, really good luck all of you out there with your personal relationships), that also applies to diets. Let's face it; no human being is going to be perfect on any diet (with possible exception to the auto-pilot diet, where you eat anything you want AND gain weight), you're going to break down; the only two questions are "when" and "how badly". Even if you did succeed (we are talking about odds so long it could be seen from space with the naked eye), months and months punishing yourself with that how to diet would crush morale; didn't you diet to love yourself more…? Usually when people break their diets, they "snap", and go wild on food and eat any in the house and beyond (It's the kind of thing where if you're lucky, all your money is gone just before next paycheck). If people KNOW they are going to eat what they want on the weekend, they may plan a little in advance (even subconsciously) and not eat the very worst food available (for instance, eating things like avocados and olives over other processed foods.)
Drink a gallon of water every day.
Water is such a great diet food because it not
only fills you (it may not be the equivalent of eating food, it is water, but
it is still impressive) but also hydrates you, which can be a concern when
first loosing weight (the stomach needs to naturally decrease in size but as
long as it's large you are still going to experience hunger pangs). A plastic
jug of water costs only a dollar and can help you measure how much liquid
you've consumed. Drinking half a gallon of water in the morning and the other
half in the evening has beneficial effects for both hunger and sleep levels. A
large water jug also allows you (because of the large plastic cap on top) to
swallow water quickly (make sure you stay away from the milk jug water jugs,
they are harder to drink from and carry around), just in case you don't like
the taste. Forget diet soda, which is not how to diet; you may get full
quicker, but the sodium (yes sodium, soda is a kind of salt water with a bit
less salt and a bit more salt-flavoring) will dehydrate you and seize your
energy.
